1472 FC has levied serious accusations against Dakkada FC, alleging that their players were bribed during their 2-1 defeat in the Nigerian National League (NNL) last Saturday.
A backroom staff member, speaking on condition of anonymity, claimed that a Dakkada representative approached a group of 1472 players at halftime, after 1472 had taken the lead, and made promises that allegedly influenced their performance in the second half.
The source further stated that the accused 1472 players did not deny these allegations, possibly due to the ongoing issue of unpaid salaries within the team.
This match wasn’t the first encounter between the two clubs. In November 2023, they met at the Uyo Township Stadium for 1472 FC’s debut NNL match, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Founded in October 2023 by Nigerian businessman and tech entrepreneur Dozy Mmobuosi (founder and former CEO of Tingo Inc.), 1472 FC concluded their inaugural NNL campaign at the bottom of the table with only 18 points from 22 games. This relegation means they will join Stormers FC and Ekiti United in the Nigeria Nationwide League (NLO) next season.
