Liverpool forward Sadio mane scored from the spot as Senegal maintained their perfect start ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations showdown in Cameroon.
Senegal defeated Guinea Bissau 2-0 at the Lat Dior Stadium in their third game in Group I on Wednesday, maintaining the perfect start to the campaign with three wins.
Mane gave the host the lead few minutes before the break from the spot, Opa Nguette doubled Senegal’s lead in the second half as the Teranga Lions move top in Group I with a maximum of nine points after three games. They are a win away from qualifying for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon which will be played in 2022.
Aliou Cisse’s side started the game on a high note and had their first sight at goal through Ismaila Sarr after 14 minutes.
Guinea Bissau who is eyeing a third consecutive AFCON appearance had their first chance of the game through Piqueti Silva after 25 minutes but could not get past the safe hands of Senegalese Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
Senegal is currently topping Group I with nine points after three group games, they seem to already have one foot in Cameroon.
