2022 AFCON: Paul Onuachu replaces injured Moses Simon for Sierra Leone double-header

Super Eagles Head Coach Gernot Rohr has called up Genk forward Paul Onuachu as a replacement for injured Moses Simon.

Having been initially placed on the standby list last week, the Genk striker will now join the rest of the players next week ahead of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifying double-header against Sierra Leone.

Paul Onuachu has been in excellent form for his Belgian Jupiler side and is Nigeria’s leading scorer in Europe this season with 9 goals in 10 appearances in all competitions.

The 25-year-old Nigeria international scored his eighth goal in his last seven games and was on the score sheet in Genk’s 4-0 home win over Eupen at the weekend as he kept up his excellent start to the season.

Nigeria lead Group L with maximum six points in two games and victory in both matches against Sierra Leone will all but confirm their place in Cameroon for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations.
