The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau In Group A at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
This is according to draws made at a colourful ceremony in Abidjan the Ivorien Capital on Thursday, October 2023 by the Confederation of African Football – CAF.
Ivory Coast will host the 2023 AFCON from January 2024, following a shift from its original 2023 summer date for weather related concerns.
Ahead of the competition, CAF held the draws in Abidjan on Thursday. The event had in attendance some African football greats like Mikel Obi, Taribo West, Aristide Bance, and Yaya Toure.
In the draws, Nigeria was in pot two, and that guaranteed that they were going to have a top African team in their group.
To participate in the draws ceremony, CAF invited African Football legends, amongst them, former Nigeria Super Eagles skipper John Obi Mikel.
In the draw, Nigeria emerged from Pot 2 to join tournament hosts Ivory Coast in group A, while Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau complete the section .
Nigeria and Ivory Coast last met in this tournament ten-years ago, the Eagles emerging victorious after a keenly contested Quater-final match.
The Eagles were eventually crowned champions of Africa for a third time in 2013, and famously faced Equatorial Guinea in the group stage.

Senegal are defending champions of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament and are drawn in group C alongside, Cameroun, Guinea and Namibia.
