Technical Manager of Rivers United, Finidi George, has played down the significance of his team’s 1-0 victory over Lobi Stars in their matchday three encounter of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
A late strike from Kabir Abdullahi in the 79th minute at the Lafia City Stadium secured the win for Rivers United, extending their unbeaten run to three matches this season.
Despite the away win, Finidi maintained a humble perspective, saying:
“Every victory, we will take it. It’s just a game. This is nothing. We have to go back and prepare for the next game. That’s the philosophy.”

Looking ahead to their next fixture, Finidi George acknowledged the challenge of facing Enyimba FC, the reigning NPFL champions, describing it as a difficult game. He added:
“We are playing against Enyimba and it’s going to be a difficult game. We just have to enjoy this victory. It’s not easy to come here and pick three points. I must commend the boys for the effort.”
Rivers United will host Enyimba FC at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday, September 29, 2024, in what promises to be a highly anticipated league match.
