Abia Warriors head coach, Imama Amakpakabo, has labeled his team’s 0-0 draw against Sunshine Stars as “tough” despite securing a valuable point on the road.
The Umuahia-based club traveled to the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode on Sunday, where they battled to a stalemate against their hosts.
“It was tough, but we managed to keep our heads and organization throughout the game,” Amakpakabo said in a post-match interview with Abia Warriors media. “Another point on the road is always welcome.”

The draw marked Abia Warriors’ second consecutive away match without a loss, showcasing the team’s growing resilience.
“I commend my players for their discipline and focus,” Amakpakabo added. “We created several chances, but converting them remains our biggest challenge.”
Amakpakabo emphasized the need to improve his team’s finishing, stating, “We have to go back and work on how to convert most of the chances we have been creating.”
The draw keeps Abia Warriors in contention for a top-spot finish in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). With several teams vying for the top spot, every point counts.
“We’re taking it one game at a time,” Amakpakabo said. “Our focus now shifts to our next match, where we aim to secure maximum points.”
