Ikorodu City FC marked a significant milestone in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) debut season, earning their first point on the road against Kwara United FC in Ilorin.
The Oga Boys battled fiercely against the Harmony Boys, with neither team able to break the deadlock in the electrifying match. This stalemate at the Ilorin Township Stadium capped off an intense Journée 3 clash.
Ikorodu City’s coach, Bright Ozebagbe, breathed a sigh of relief after the hard-fought draw.
“We needed this after a long journey to Katsina. We’ve had ample time to rest and train, addressing our weaknesses,” he said.

The team’s debut season began with a 3-0 loss to three-time champions Kano Pillars.
However, the extended break due to Rangers International FC’s continental commitments allowed Ikorodu City to regroup.
Ozebagbe acknowledged the benefits of starting their elite league campaign with two away matches. “It’s eased expectations, stress, and anxiety for the players. They’re ready, relaxed, and motivated, with no injury concerns.”
Both teams created scoring opportunities, but neither could capitalize. Ikorodu City’s resilience was evident as they withstood Kwara United’s relentless pressure.
The draw marks a crucial turning point for Ikorodu City, who have yet to play a home game in Lagos.
