Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke netted his first La Liga goal for Sevilla FC in dramatic fashion, scoring an 85th-minute match-winner in their 2-1 victory over Real Valladolid at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on Tuesday.
Ejuke, who joined Sevilla on a free transfer from CSKA Moscow this summer, came off the bench in the second half, replacing team captain Jesús Navas. The 26-year-old made an immediate impact, capitalizing on a misplaced Valladolid pass, skillfully evading three defenders, and firing a precise shot into the bottom corner to secure all three points for his side.
This marked Ejuke’s first goal for Sevilla in his sixth appearance for the club, and his contribution was crucial in earning manager García Pimienta’s team their second win of the season.
Sevilla took the lead just before halftime when Dodi Lukebakio’s driven cross was inadvertently turned into the net by Valladolid defender David Torres. However, Valladolid equalized early in the second half, setting up a tense finale. Ejuke’s late goal proved decisive, although Sevilla were reduced to 10 men shortly after his strike.
Ejuke’s compatriot, Kelechi Iheanacho, also featured in the match, starting up front for Sevilla. Despite several blocked attempts, Iheanacho was substituted in the second half.
With this win, Sevilla move to 12th place in La Liga with eight points from seven matches.
