In yesterday’s rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League fixtures, defending champions Enugu Rangers and Enyimba emerged victorious, bolstering their standings in the league.
Rangers claimed a hard-fought 1-0 away win against Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, courtesy of Captain Chinemerem Ugwueze’s decisive 25th-minute strike.
This win marked Rangers’ first in the NPFL this season, while Ikorodu City struggled to find momentum, managing only one point from three games.

Meanwhile, Enyimba secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over Lobi Stars in Aba. Yemi Olanrewaju’s side dominated the first half, with goals from Chinedu Ufere in the 13th minute and Eze Ekwutoziem from the penalty spot after 16 minutes .
Although Waheeb Adebayo reduced the deficit for Lobi Stars nine minutes before the break, the Makurdi club failed to equalize.
These wins are crucial for both teams, especially Rangers, who are seeking to maintain their lead in the NPFL standings.
Enyimba’s victory keeps them within striking distance of the top spot, currently held by Rivers United.
Enyimba is 4th on the NPFL’ log having won 2 of their matches this season with still a game in hand.
