The Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Desmond Enabulele, has officially confirmed Coach Greg Ikhenoba as the substantive Head Coach of Bendel Insurance Football Club, Benin.
This follows Ikhenoba’s commendable performance in steering the team away from relegation after the resignation of his predecessor, Coach Monday Odigie.
Bendel Insurance’s coach, Monday Odigie, has resigned from his role as the team’s head coach following Insurance’s current form. The Benin Arsenal are currently 20th on the log with 9 points in 12 matches.

In addition, Hon. Enabulele announced the appointment of Mr. Austin Iyamu as the Technical Director and Mr. Peter Obanor as the Team Manager of Bendel Insurance FC.

For Edo Queens FC, the Commission named Coach Rollanson Aituairi Odeh as the General Manager.
The team’s Head Coach, Moses Aduku, has also had his contract renewed for two more years following the club’s impressive performance in the 2023/24 NWFL Premiership and CAF Women’s Champions League.
Other notable appointments include:
– Mr. Idemudia Osigbemen as Bendel Insurance FC’s Scouting Coach.
– Mr. Anthony Ipogah as the Scouting Coach for Edo Queens.
– Princess Omoyemwen Adeyinka Afolabi as the Welfare Officer for Edo Queens.
Hon. Enabulele urged the appointees to leverage their expertise to drive positive change and ensure the continued development of the two state-owned clubs.

He emphasized the importance of teamwork and synergy among the new appointees and existing staff.
“The new appointments were made based on the professional track records of the individuals in the football industry,” Hon. Enabulele stated.
To officially present the new appointees and players of Bendel Insurance FC, the Edo State Sports Commission has scheduled an unveiling ceremony on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
The event will take place at the New Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City, starting at 10:00 AM.
