Liverpool are making a strong push to sign Super Eagles winger and 2024 CAF Best Player, Ademola Lookman, as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Lookman, who has been in phenomenal form for Atalanta, has recorded 50 goals and 22 assists in 109 appearances, making him one of the most in-demand wingers in Europe.
Salah’s contract is nearing expiration and no renewal in sight, Liverpool are keen to bring in a high-quality successor—and Lookman is now their top target.
Salah’s Uncertain Future at Liverpool
Speaking after a game in December 2024, Salah himself cast doubt on his Liverpool future:
“We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay at the club. I’m probably more out than in.”
“There is no club like this, but in the end, it is not in my hands. The fans love me, I love them, but I haven’t received anything about my future yet.”
“I’m disappointed, but we will see. I’m just focusing on the season, trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League.”

The Egyptian King has scored 32 gals and 22 assist across all competition
With 243 goals, Salah is Liverpool’s third-highest goal scorer of all time, but his possible departure has forced the club to accelerate their search for a replacement.
Ademola Lookman remains an option for Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window, especially given his price tag compared to the likes of Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike. https://t.co/IA02WYDuGb #Lookman #Atalanta #LFC #Liverpool #Transfers #SerieA

Why Liverpool Want Lookman Over Isak & Ekitike
The Reds have also been linked with Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike, but reports from Football Italia indicate that Lookman is the most affordable option.
- Alexander Isak’s price tag: €150 million
- Hugo Ekitike’s price tag: At least €70 million
- Ademola Lookman’s price tag: Around €60 million

Can Liverpool Beat the Competition for Lookman?
With Lookman’s contract set to expire next season, Atalanta is open to selling him this summer rather than losing him for free. Last year, he came close to joining PSG, but the deal collapsed.
Now, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Manchester United are all keeping a close eye on his situation. Having previously played in the Premier League without much success, the newly crowned CAF Best Player is eager to return and make his mark.
