Southampton striker Paul Onuachu has expressed his frustration following the club’s 2-1 home defeat to Wolves, despite scoring the club’s only goal.
The Super Eagles striker, who came on as a substitute, found the back of the net in the 75th minute, but his effort couldn’t prevent his team from suffering another disappointing result.
Reflecting on the match, Onuachu said, “It’s tough scoring my first goal in front of the home fans and still losing. It’s not good enough—we need to improve as a team and individually.” Despite the goal, Onuachu’s frustration was evident as he acknowledged the team’s struggles.
Southampton began the game with promising play, showing early confidence. However, Wolves capitalized on their opportunities.
Joergen Strand Larsen opened the scoring for Wolves in the 19th minute, and his second goal early in the second half made it 2-0.

Onuachu’s late strike provided some hope, but it wasn’t enough as Wolves held on to secure the victory.
“We started well in the first 20 minutes, and it’s hard to explain this loss because we felt confident playing at home and believed we could beat Wolves. You could see we were the better team, even though we lost. It’s just not good enough,” Onuachu added.

Despite pulling one back, Southampton couldn’t find the equalizer. Onuachu concluded, “For the fans and the team, scoring is great, but losing makes it difficult to enjoy. We needed to win this game, and it’s very disappointing.”

Onuachu has now scored three times in 19 league appearances for the South Coast club this season, but Southampton’s battle for survival continues.
