Coach Eddy Dombraye denies rift with Lobi Stars

Coach Eddy Dombraye has denied having issues with the management and staff of Lobi Stars Football Club.

Dombraye was rumoured to have left the club’s evening training session of Friday, September 18, 2021, at the Aper Aku Stadium in Marking in protest of the overbearing influence of a management member.

Speaking to the club’s media department, Dombraye said he does not have any issue with the management of Lobi Stars.

“I don’t have any issues with any of the management staff of the club, I have enjoyed tremendous cooperation since I arrived Makurdi, I didn’t end the training session which is true, but my leaving the arena was unconnected to any form of misunderstanding with anybody, I had to go and attend to a pressing family matter, and had excused myself from training accordingly and handed over to my assistant. I don’t know where such insinuation was coming from.”

Eddy Dombraye joined Lobi Stars in September following the departure of Kabir Dogo, who joined Bauchi’s Wikki Tourists.

The former Flying Eagles star played in the Nigeria Professional Football League for Heartland and Insurance of Benin before moving to Poland to play for Ekstraklasa team KS ód in 1998.

Dombraye was a member of the Nigerian team that won the FIFA World Youth Championship in 1999.

In a 1998 African Cup of Nations qualification match against Burkina Faso, he made his Super Eagles debut as a replacement.
