Orlando Pirates defender, Olisa Ndah says the Super Eagles of Nigeria have the ability and squad depth to go all the way to the finals of the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Nigeria defeated seven-time champions Egypt on Tuesday to take control of the group and are heading into their second game against Sudan in high spirit.
Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho was quick enough to react to Sanusi Zaidu’s cross which was deflected to his path by Joe Aribo to bury a stunning half-volley on the turn in the 30th minute.
Speaking to The Athletic NG after the team`s training session at the Stade Roumdé Adjia Stadium in Garoua on Wednesday, Ndah says his target is to go all the way.
“My target is to go all the way. Although this is my first time, we have so much ability in the team, so it is really nice for me to be here.”
Ndah received his first call-up to the senior national team last month in place of injured Leon Balogun but says William Troost-Ekong and Kenneth Omeruo are great players.
“They are great players, Omeruo has told me to keep my head down and play, I just have to believe in my ability .
The 23-year old joined South African side Orlando Pirates from Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Akwa United and says he has well been received by all players.
“It has been nice, it has been massive. The team has shown me so much love. There`s no big or small player, they are all nice to everyone.
“We are going for another victory against Sudan, from the beginning, we said, let`s take each game at a time. Sudan is the next game and we are coming out with three points,” Olisa Ndah said.
Nigeria will face Sudan in Group D on Saturday by 4pm while Egypt take on Guinea-Bissau by 6pm.
