We will be champions of NPFL – Rivers Utd goalie Sochima Victor

Rivers United goalkeeper Sochima Victor has expressed optimism towards winning the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title, stating that it will be a thing of joy, pride, and honour to win it for the state and its’ amiable governor, Chief Nyesom Wike.

The former Jigawa Golden Stars goalie who has so far recorded seven clean sheets for Rivers United this season also expressed delight, having joined Rivers United which he recognises as one of the big sides in the country, adding that he is humbled to be in the same team with Theophilus Afelokhai.

“Big Theo is one of the biggest names in the country with a wealth of experience. It’s been great sharing the dressing room and working with him. I learn from him everyday in training, as well as my other two colleagues too.

“I am glad that we started the season very strong, and we are not looking back. Our main aim is to be the champions at the end of the season and bring home the league title.

“Everyday, we push ourselves to get better. There’s no first choice goalkeeper in our team. Anybody can play and I’m privilege to be playing now. So, I am definitely making good use of my time because it can be any other person, depending on who the coach chooses to play” Sochima said.

As a result of his fantastic form, it is expected that Sochima Victor will be given the nod to start in goal when Rivers United play host to Shooting Star in matchday 17 game on Sunday at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
