CAFCC : Rivers United departs Nigeria for Congo ahead of tie against Diables Noirs

CAFCC – Rivers United has today departed Nigeria for Brazzaville, Congo ahead of thier CAF Confederation Cup group stage tie against Diables Noirs this weekend.

The defending NPFL champions won’t be playing in the league this weekend but will be up against thier CAFCC opponent on Sunday 12th February 2023.

They will move via Muritala Muhammed International Airport Lagos through the ASKY Airline for the 33,37 capacity Alphonse Massamba-Debat Stadium, Stade Marchand clash.

In the next few days, Africa’s premium club competitions: The TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup will kick-off the most exciting phase of the continent’s top club competition.

It will span for the next four months until May 2023, the Group Stages and the Knockout stages of the competition.

In line with the resolution of the Executive Committee in July 2022, this year’s final of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup will be contested on home and away basis.

The TotalEnergies CAF Champions League will kick-off on Friday, 10 February with a fixture between five-time African champions, Zamalek against Algeria’s CR Belouizdad at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt.

Group A: Wydad Athletic Club (Morocco), Petro de Luanda (Angola), JS Kabylie (Algeria), AS Vita Club (DR Congo)

Group B: Al Ahly (Egypt), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Al Hilal (Sudan), Coton Sport (Cameroon)

Group C: Raja Club Athletic (Morocco), Horoya AC (Guinea), Simba SC (Tanzania), Vipers SC (Uganda)

Group D: Esperance (Tunisia), Zamalek (Egypt), CR Belouizdad (Algeria), Al Merrikh (Sudan)
