Karim Adeyemi: FUFU is my secret ingredient

After his match winning performance vs Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League, Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi has named FUFU as secret ingredient of his searing pace.

Dortmund hosted Chelsea on Tuesday night in the Champions League round of 16.

With scores level at 0-0 and the clock ticking away, Adeyemi picked up the ball in his own half and sped past Enzo Fernandez before rounding the goalkeeper Arrizagbalaga to score.

In the post match interview, a journalist asked the 21-year old of the secret behind his electrifying pace.

Adeyemi responded by attributing his pace to good genetics from his dad and his consumption of Nigerian food.

“I eat alot of African food! FUFU from Nigeria, it’s very good.” the former Salzburg player said to further underline his closeness to Nigeria.

Born in Munich Germany to a Nigerian father and Romanian mother, Adeyemi has never hidden his admiration for his fatherland Nigeria despite representing his country of birth Germany at full international level.

Adeyemi must have had a lot of FUFU last summer when he spent time in Ibadan, Nigeria.

The 21-year-old forward returned from Nigeria to clock the fastest speed in the Bundesliga this season. He was also fifth-fastest player in the group stage of this season’s Champions League, clocking a top speed of 36.1kmph.
