The highly anticipated opening match of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) featuring Sporting Lagos and Gombe United has been rescheduled. 

Initially slated for Saturday, September 30, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, the fixture will now take place on Monday, October 2, at the same venue.

The decision to postpone the fixture was confirmed by Davidson Owumi, the Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL. 

According to Owumi, the delay was deemed necessary due to logistical issues concerning the match venue.
