Mfon Udoh reveals why Some Nigerian coaches collect money from players

Bashandura Kings of Bangladesh forward, Mfon Udoh has revealed why Nigerian coaches collect money from players before signing them.

The Nigerian striker who still holds record for most goals in the Countries top-flight football league in a single season (23) , made the disclosure on a podcast hosted by legendary Beach Eagles Skipper Abu Azeez.

Udoh, also bared his mind about his time at Enyimba FC, Akwa United FC before his first foreign adventure at American club, Tulsa FC .

Udoh said in pidgin English, ” I say many Nigerian coaches dey collect money from players, i know dem well well but i know go call their names, dey plenty,’

He continued, “They are saying they are helping players , Come and sign this contract, you will see different copies and when you ask for your copy, they will say its with NFF that they will send it back to you.”

Mfon Udoh will stay in the history book as one of the most prolific goal-scorers, in the 2020/2021 season, he helped hometown club, Akwa United FC to win the NPFL title for the first time.

That historic moment will not count as his best though, the striker named the 2013/2014 season as the best of his career in the NPFL.

That season, Udoh broke Jude Aneke’s record for most goals in a single season (23). He scored nine goals for Enyimba in the CAF Champions League as well.

“My first season with Enyimba in 2014 was the best in my career in the NPFL. Everything worked for me despite not being the main striker for Enyimba,” he said.
