Nigeria and Cameroun to tango in Paris Olympics qualification third round

The Super Falcons of Nigeria and the Indomitable Lioness of Cameroun will tango over two legs in the third qualifying round for the Paris 2024 Olympics games.

This follows their respective success in the second qualifying round fixtures vs Ethiopia and Uganda respectively.

For Nigeria, a comfortable 4-0 second leg win over Ethiopia at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Wednesday, October 31 summed a 5-1 aggregate result, while Cameroun were brace to overturn a 0-2 first leg loss with a 3-0 2nd-leg win to seal a 3-2 aggregate result and progress to the third qualifying round.

In the Cameroun vs Uganda second leg clash, Njoya Ajara gave the Lionesses the lead in the first half while Monique Ngock added a second at the start of the second half to drag the tie back on levelled terms on aggregate.

Nothing could separate the two sides in regulation time, but Falone Meffometou struck the clincher in extra-time to complete the turnaround for Cameroon

A keen rivalry will thus be renewed in the third qualifying round between West African neighbors, Nigeria and Cameroun.

The two-legged fixture between Super Falcons and the Indomitable Lioness will be played between the 19th and 28th of February, 2024.

The race is for two tickets as African representatives at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
