Nigeria’s Alex Iwobi showcased his prowess once again, finding the net for Fulham in their 2-1 loss against Wolves at Molineux. THE ATHLETICNG.

The Super Eagles playmaker scored a late consolation goal in the eighth minute of stoppage time, demonstrating his skill with an improvised right-footed strike from inside the six-yard box.

This goal marked Iwobi’s sixth in all competitions for Fulham, making it his most prolific campaign to date. Surpassing his previous best goals tally in the Premier League, achieved during the 2018/19 season with Arsenal, Iwobi continues to elevate his performance levels.

During his time at Arsenal, Iwobi impressed with three goals and six assists in 35 top-flight appearances. However, the current season represents new heights for the 27-year-old midfielder, with his late strike against Wolves being his fifth in the Premier League alone, with still 10 games remaining.

Despite the disappointment of his goal being only a consolation, Iwobi delivered an industrious performance, completing 79% of his passes, creating seven chances, and making six recoveries in midfield.

Although Fulham’s defeat halted their two-game winning streak in the Premier League, Iwobi’s overall contribution this season has been significant, revitalizing his career following his summer switch from Arsenal. His outstanding performances at the Africa Cup of Nations indicated his readiness to elevate his game, and he is now delivering on that promise in the Premier League.

With Iwobi maintaining his scoring rate, even bigger achievements could be on the horizon for the red-hot Nigerian in the seasons to come.
