Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie has won the Best Goalkeeper Award in the French Women’s League.
The 23-year-old becomes the first African to win both the National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP) Best Goalkeeper Award and the French D1 Arkema Goalkeeper of the Year Award.
Chiamaka Nnadozie has been impressive throughout the campaign, helping her side Paris FC to finish third in the regular season and also make the playoffs.
She has also been impressive for the Super Falcons and she was the key to Super Falcons qualification for the women’s football event at the Paris Olympics competition for the first time in 16 years, having only conceded once in her last six games.
Nnadozie emerged as the first African to win the award, seeing off competition from Olympic Lyon’s Christiane Endler, Katarzyna Kiedrzynek of PSG, FC Fleury’s Chloe N’Gazi and Kinga Szemik of Stade de Reims.
Since moving to France in 2020, the 23-year-old has established herself as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe.
She is the leading penalty specialist, having saved seven penalties this season, the highest by any goalkeeper in Europe. Nnadozie’s penalty-saving heroics in particular have cemented her status as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
Nnadozie boasts two spot-kick saves in the league and five in her club’s sensational run in the Women’s Champions League.

The 22-year old is in the top-three alongside Khadija Er-Rmichi of Morocco and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini. Super Falcons midfielder Deborah Abiodun will face Comfort Yeboah of Ghana and Morocco’s Nesryne El Chad for the Young Player of the Year, award. Also, the Super Falcons of Nigeria , are in the top-three for the National Team of the Year (Women) award. Fast-rising Morocco and current African champions South Africa, complete the shortlist for that category. American coach, Randy Waldrum is not in the top-three for the Coach of the Year award.
