Super Eagles keeper’s wife challenges husband to sing new national anthem

Ojo Olorunleke wife challenges husband to sing new national anthem

The return of the old Nigerian national anthem, “Nigeria We Hail Thee,” has sparked a lighthearted online challenge, even reaching the household of a Super Eagles player.

Tosin Olorunleke, wife of Super Eagles goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke, took to her Facebook page to join the fun. She posted a video of herself singing the new anthem with her eyes closed, playfully tagging her husband and challenging him to do the same.

Currently in Uyo with the national team as they prepare for their crucial World Cup qualifier against South Africa on Friday, Ojo will hope to gain coach Finidi George’s trust during training. However, his wife’s challenge highlights the ongoing national discussion surrounding the anthem’s reinstatement.

The Enyimba goal tender was part of the Super Eagles team that finished runners-up at the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year. He is among the three Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) players invited for the crucial World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic. The others are Sodiq Ismail of Remo Stars and Kenneth Igboke of Enugu Rangers.
