This 2026 World Cup qualifier will take place on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 5 PM Nigeria time, at the Late Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

Nigeria, three-time African Cup of Nations winners, are eager to bounce back after a disappointing 1-1 draw against South Africa in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Friday, June 7. This result has put additional pressure on the team, extending their winless streak to three games in the current series.

Currently, Nigeria sits fifth in Group C with three points, trailing the group leaders Lesotho, who have amassed five points. The upcoming match against Benin Republic is a critical opportunity for the Super Eagles to close the gap and improve their position in the group standings.

Benin Republic, on the other hand, comes into the match with boosted confidence after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Rwanda. Rohr surely knows a good number of players in the Super Eagles squad and so will try to set-up his Benin Republic lads to unsetttle their more illustrious opponents on Monday evening.

Super Eagles head coach, Finidi Geeorge is not concerned about how best Rohr uses his knowledge of the Eagles as he believes the on-field display will determine who emerges victorious.
