Zlatan Ibrahimovic explains his new job with AC Milan

Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-explains-job-at-AC-Milan-at-press-conference

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the iconic Swedish striker, has explained the intricacies of his new job at AC Milan. After retiring in June 2023, speculation mounted about Ibrahimovic’s future with the club. Initial reports suggested an advisory role with the ownership group, RedBird Capital. However, the specific details remained unclear.

In a recent press conference where he spoke with TMW, the former Manchester United striker shed light on his position.

“My role is straightforward. I’m the operating partner of RedBird group,” Zlatan Ibrahimovic made clear.

He went on to explain the collaborative structure of the job.

“I work closely with Cardinale [RedBird founder] and collaborate with Moncada [Sporting Director] and Furlani [CEO]. It’s a team effort, from Milanello [training ground] to Vismara [administrative headquarters].”

Ibrahimovic’s recent explanation clarifies earlier reports from December 2023 that suggested a broader focus for Ibrahimovic, potentially influencing RedBird’s entire sports, media, and entertainment portfolio.

Earlier in January, Redbird’s founder, Gerry Cardinale had revealed his reason for adding Ibrahimovic to the team.

“He has enough authority to be my voice to the player group. If I just picked a guy from New York, he would have had a lot less influence. The way Zlatan talks to the players is unique.”

Ibrahimovic’s role in the Redbird group does not negate his co-ownership of Swedish club Harmmaby.

His role as an operating partner for the RedBird group at AC Milan will mean his third stint with the Italian side.
