Abia Warriors will be making their first-ever appearance in the President Federation Cup final following their success in the semi-final.
The Aba-based club secured their place in the championship match after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Kano Pillars in the semifinals.
The encounter remained deadlocked at 0-0 after regulation time, pushing the decision to a nerve-wracking penalty shootout.
Abia Warriors displayed their composure, converting all four of their attempts. Kano Pillars, on the other hand, faltered under pressure, missing two of their five penalties. The miss by Kano Pillars’ forward Ibrahim Mustapha sent the Abia faithful into celebration.
Abia Warriors will face El Kanemi Warriors in the final scheduled for June 29th at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja. Not only will the winner lift the prestigious FA Cup trophy, but they will also have the honor of representing Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup.
