Chelsea announce transfer of Nigerian striker

This summer, Chelsea have been linked with a move for two Nigerian strikers, Victor Osimhen and youngster Hafiz Ibrahim. Now there is news of a Nigerian-born forward heading out of Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea FC have announced that young forward Chinonso Chibueze has left the club to join Championship side Stoke City.

The Premier League club disclosed the transfer in a statement on their website on Friday, July 5, 2024.

“Chinonso Chibueze has left Chelsea and completed a move to Championship club Stoke City. Good luck for the future, Chi Chi,” Chelsea’s statement read.

Chibueze, born on January 28, 2006, joined Chelsea’s youth setup as an Under-10 from Fulham. The 18-year-old progressed through the ranks at Cobham, Chelsea’s training ground, and made his Under-18 debut during the 2021/22 season.

During the 2022/23 campaign, Chibueze continued to make appearances for the Under-18s, including a notable performance where he scored twice in a 9-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion.

His consistent development and impressive performances at the youth level have highlighted his potential and promising future in football.
