Enugu State Governor splashes N50m, non-cash gifts on Rangers Int’l.

Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has rewarded Rangers International Football Club with a cash prize of N50 million and non-cash gifts for winning the 2023/2024 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title.

The governor announced the reward at a state banquet held at the Government House in Enugu, where he hosted the Nigerian champions.

He praised the team for etching Enugu State on the African and global map, stating that Rangers International transcends generations and is a unifying factor for the people of Enugu State.

Governor Mbah commended the General Manager, coach, captain, players, and fans for their contributions to the team’s success. He also acknowledged the Commissioner for Youth and Sport Development, Barr. Lloyd Ekweremadu, for his support.

The General Manager and CEO of Rangers International, Amobi Ezeaku, expressed gratitude to the governor for his support, which transformed the club. He highlighted the club’s achievements, including the return to their home stadium, the Cathedral, and the recognition of the Rangers’ jersey at the FIFA museum in Zurich, Switzerland, and the headquarters of African Football in Egypt.

The Chairman of Rangers Supporters Club, Dr. Uchenna Orji, club captain, Chukwudi Nwodu, and top fan, Emmanuel Okoh, assured that the team is poised to win the CAF Champions League, retain the league title, and lift the FA Cup.

This gesture by Governor Mbah demonstrates his commitment to supporting the team and promoting sports development in Enugu State. The reward will undoubtedly motivate Rangers International to strive for greater heights in the upcoming seasons.

Last season, Rangers Int’l were solid all throughout the season, winning the NPFL title with a record- breaking 70 points, 5 points above Remo Stars who finished second on the log with 65 points.
