Manchester United includes Super Eagles-eligible youngster in pre-season squad

Manchester United has named Nigerian defender Habeeb Ogunneye in their 25-man pre-season squad. The 18-year-old defender, who has risen through the club’s ranks since joining in 2021, has been promoted to the under-21 team this year.

Ogunneye, born to Nigerian parents in England, is currently eligible to play for the English youth team but can switch allegiance to Nigeria. He has a chance to impress coach Erik Ten Hag and potentially secure playing time, especially with Luke Shaw away on duty for England at the European Championships.
