Vincent Enyeama’s son begins goalkeeping journey at Lille

Vincent Enyeama’s son is set to follow in his father’s illustrious footsteps by starting his goalkeeping journey at Lille. The young goalkeeper is hoping to achieve significant success, inspired by the remarkable career of his father, who made a lasting impact at the French club.

Vincent Enyeama joined Lille in June 2011 on a three-year contract. He made his debut on 18 October 2011 in a UEFA Champions League group stage match against Inter Milan. Although Inter won 1-0, Enyeama’s talent was evident.

In August 2012, Enyeama went on a one-year loan to Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he played a crucial role in winning the Israeli Premier League title.

Returning to Lille for the 2013–14 Ligue 1 season, Enyeama became the first-choice goalkeeper under manager René Girard.

With the support of defenders Marko Baša and Simon Kjær, Enyeama kept 11 consecutive clean sheets. His impressive run ended after 1,062 minutes in a match against Bordeaux, just 114 minutes shy of the Ligue 1 record.

Despite a disagreement with Lille’s management during the 2017–18 season, which kept him out of league appearances, Enyeama’s legacy at the club remains strong.

He was released by mutual consent in August 2018, and after a brief trial with Dijon in 2019, he decided to retire at the end of the 2019–20 season.

Now, his son is poised to begin his own journey at Lille, aiming to make a name for himself and continue the Enyeama legacy.
