Nottingham Forest, led by Taiwo Awoniyi, have reached an agreement to sign Thompson Ishaka, the winger from Rangers and Nigeria’s Flying Eagles.
The deal will see Ishaka join Forest in the coming days, with personal terms already settled and only final details of the transfer pending.
The 19-year-old Ishaka, who joined Rangers from Brooke House College Football Academy last summer, made a strong impression with the B team despite not featuring for the first team. His move to Nottingham Forest comes as part of the club’s busy summer transfer window, which has seen new additions like Elliot Anderson from Newcastle, Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina, and Marco Stamenic from Red Star Belgrade, among others.

Ishaka was also linked to several top clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester City, and PSV Eindhoven, when he first joined Rangers. However, Rangers secured his signing at that time. Darryl McHardy, a Scotland defender, mentioned having “nightmares” facing Ishaka in a friendly match between Rangers and Buckie Thistle FC.
The move is facilitated by former Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson and former Academy chief Craig Mulholland, who are now at Nottingham Forest. They were instrumental in bringing Ishaka to Ibrox last summer and are now helping him make the move to the City Ground.
Ishaka impressed during his stint with Nigeria’s Flying Eagles as they prepared for the Total Energies U-20 AFCON championship in Egypt last year.
