Abia Warriors makes Utibe Arit 10th summer signing

Abia Warriors has completed the signing of former Dakkada FC and Lobi Stars forward Utibe Arit two days before the start of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football, NPFL season on Sunday.

As reported by sports journalist, Stephen Nse on Facebook, Arit completed his medical in Umuahia and will wear jersey number 8.

Nse posted: “Abia Warriors Fc have successfully completed the signing of former Dakkada Fc and Lobi Stars foward, Utibe Arit ahead of the new season after completing his routine medical. He will wear the number 8 jersey.

The Arrival of Utibe Arit looks to complete a summer of complete overhaul by the club, making him the 10th player to arrive at the Umuahia Warlords.

The club has already secured the services of goalkeepers Vincent Edafe from Dakkada FC and Olorunleke Ojo from Sunshine Stars; Nzube Anaezemba from Lobi Stars, Markson Ojobo from Akwa United, Mustapha Jubreel from Mighty Jet, Dennis Kingsley from Odion Ighalo Academy, Godwin Obaje from JS Kairouan, Harrison Ibukun from Dakkada FC and Chukwuemeka Obioma from Heartland FC.

The Umuahia Warlords started the window with the capture of NPFL winning coach and former Super Eagles assistant coach, Imama Amapakabo, who is tasked with the responsibility to help the club grab one of the continental tickets next season.

Amapakabo after arriving at the club in July said his dream is to bring glory to the Umuahia-based side.

“Everybody dreams, you know it will be folly of myself and the management if we have this pact and we don’t aspire,” the former Golden Eaglets goalkeeper said. “But a lot of work has to be done.

“Let not forget this team, in the past years, have been able to sustain themselves .they are one of those teams that came up, after they were elevated to the elite division, they’ve not gone down.

“So, I think it is our place, all of us are aspiring. And we believe that in the harmony of unification of working, we would be able to like get it right for us to get the result that we want.”

Abia Warriors will begin the 2020/2021 NPFL season in a local derby against neighbours Enyimba on Sunday by 4pm at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba.
