Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia has unveiled former Enugu Rangers gaffer Imama Amapakabo as their new Head Coach.
Amapakabo was officially presented as Abia Warriors coach on Wednesday at the Umuahia Township Stadium ahead of the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, season.
Abia Warriors earlier this month announced that the club had reached an agreement with the former Super Eagles assistant coach to become their new head coach head.
Imama has signed a two-year contract with the Umuahia team and is expected to lead the Abia Warlords to glory in the new season.
The club was without a coach after the sack of Emmanuel Deutsch in February 2020.
The 50-year old won the NPFL title with Enugu Rangers in 2016, the Flying Antelopes’ first domestic glory in over 34 years.
Abia Warriors finished the 2019/2020 NPFL season on 16th position on 30 points, just a point above the relegation places and Imama Amapakabo will be tasked to improve the team’s position when the new season commences.
