Nigeria Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi is celebrating the return of his favourite number as he is handed the number 17 shirt at Premier League club Fulham for the 2024/2025 season.
Iwobi, who previously wore the number 22 jersey since his arrival from Everton, expressed his excitement on social media about reclaiming the number 17, which he also wears for the Nigeria national team. In an Instagram post, Iwobi shared his joy with his followers, writing, “Rumour Has It… 17 Is Back!”

The announcement follows Iwobi’s debut in the number 17 shirt during Fulham’s 4-0 win against QPR in a preseason match played behind closed doors. Last season, while wearing number 22, Iwobi had an impressive campaign, scoring six goals and providing two assists in all competitions for the Cottagers.
The return of the number 17 jersey to Iwobi is seen as a gesture of confidence from Fulham. The Nigerian international has become a key player for the team since his move from Everton in 2023. With his favourite number now back, Iwobi will look to build on his strong performances and continue making a significant impact for Fulham in the upcoming season.
