1. 1980 AFCON: Nigeria 0-0 Cote d’Ivoire

• Despite the setback, Nigeria secured third place in the tournament.

5. 2008 AFCON: Nigeria 0-1 Cote d’Ivoire

When Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire file out for the 2023 AFCON group stage clash on Thursday, January 18, it will be the Elephants carrying the favourites tag in front of their fans at the Alassana Oauttara Stadium in Abidjan.

Jose Peseiro’s injury-ravaged Super Eagles will hope to get the better of the Ivoriens to boost their hopes of reaching the knockout round having failed to defeat Equatorial Guinea in their opening group game.
