Akwa United beat Dakkada FC to qualify for AKS FA Cup final

Akwa United defeated Dakkada FC 5-4 on penalties to qualify for the final of the Akwa Ibom State FA Cup for a record 15 consecutive times.

The defending champions were held to a 0-0 draw by neighbours Dakkada FC in the first semi-final of the FA Cup on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at the Training Pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

The Promise Keepers was given a bye to qualify automatically to the semi-finals while Dakkada FC defeated Vandrezzer Academy on Friday to book their place in the last four.

Cameroonian international goalkeeper, Jean Efala was the hero for the 14th time champions, saving Adewale Lasisi’s spot kick to the send the former Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions to the finals which they’ve participated and won the previous 14th editions.

The second semi-final will take place on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 between Vandrezzer FC and FC Rockets at the Nest of Champions Training Pitch by 4pm.

Winner of the tournament will represent Akwa Ibom State at the 2023 Federation Cup.
