Akwa United FC share spoils with 3SC in Eket

Akwa United FC shared the spoils with visiting 3SC at the Eket Stadium following a 0-0 draw in the Nigeria Premier Football League week four clash.

It was Akwa United FC who dominated proceedings for most part of the match but were unable to find a much desired goal to win the contest.

As early as the 2nd minute, 3SC goalkeeper Ovunda Darlington was called into action to deny Osoba Kabir’s shot

Mubarak Said then threatened with chances in the 10th and 17th minute for Akwa United FC who pressed hard in search of a goal.

3SC goalkeeper, Ovunda Darlington was their saviour at the Eket Stadium, the shot-stopper denied midfielder Rilwan Sadiq from inside the penalty area in the 25th and 30th minute.

The best chance of the first half arrived in the second minute of additional time. Osoba Kabir’s shot was parried by goalkeeper Ovunda Darlington into the path of Mubarak Said, whose shot hit the post and rolled out for a goal kick.

In the second half, Former Nigeria U-23 striker, Kufre Ebong who came on in place of Rilwan Sadiq in the 52nd minute produced the first chance of the half.

Ebong outpaced his marker, rounded goalkeeper Ovunda before passing to Mubarak Said who laid the ball for Seyi Oguntayo to fire at goal only to be blocked by the 3SC legs in the 55th minute.

For the rest of the game, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote tutored 3SC were resolute in defence to see out a 0-0 draw, their first away vs Akwa United FC in eight attempts.

Akwa United FC are yet to win a game in the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League season. The Promise Keepers have now lost twice and drew both home games to occupy bottom spot on the standings after four weeks.

A rather slow start for Akwa United FC who have in recent seasons ranked among top contenders for the league title.
