Atalanta sets €70m price tag on Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman

Ademola Lookman bagged a brace to lead Atalanta past AC Milan who had compatriot Samuel Chukwueze in action 3-2 in a thrilling Serie A clash

Italian club Atalanta has placed a €70m price tag on Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman.

According to multiple reports, the Bergamo-based club is willing to let the talented forward depart this summer on the condition that they meet their financial demands.

Lookman, who joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022 for €10 million, has been instrumental in securing back-to-back European qualifications for the club. His standout performance came in the UEFA Europa League final, where he netted a historic hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen.

The 26-year-old’s impressive form has caught the attention of several top European clubs, including Barcelona, Juventus, and West Ham. However, Atalanta is unwilling to negotiate their €70 million valuation and is prepared to retain Lookman if their demands are not met – a similar approach they used with Rasmus Hojlund, whom they sold to Manchester United for €73.5 million last summer.

Lookman ended the season with an impressive tally of 26 goals across all competitions, making him a highly sought-after player in the transfer market. The Super Eagles forward is no stranger to the Premier League, having previously featured for Fulham, Everton, and Leicester City. With his impressive skills and experience, Lookman is expected to be a valuable addition to any top-tier club.

Additionally, Lookman has been voted Atalanta’s Player of the Season for 2023/24, marking the second consecutive year he received the same honor. Lookman, who also won the award for the 2022/23 season, had an impressive campaign, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists in 31 appearances for La Dea last season.

His outstanding performance in the Europa league final also earned him the Europa League Goal of the Season award. Lookman was also the hero for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, scoring two goals to beat Cameroon, including one assisted by Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
