Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is close to ending speculations about his future by signing a new contract worth £300,000-a-week.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Aubameyang is nearing an agreement on an extension to his current deal which is due to expire at the end of next season.

The Gabonese international scored 22 goals in the Premier League last season and netted twice in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Chelsea in Saturday’s FA Cup final.

This will come as a big boost to Arsenal and Mikel Arteta as he looks forward to rebuilding his team to be competitive ahead of next season.

Since his move to Arsenal from German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in January 2018, the 31-year old has scored 54 goals in 85 premier league games.

The Gunners have also offered a 3-year contract worth £100,000-a-week to Chelsea star Willian and the deal is expected to go through.

Willian will add depth and quality to the Arsenal squad and he is expected to be joined by fellow Brazilian Phillipe Coutinho from Barcelona, although reports emerged yesterday the North London club may not have enough money to pay the two players.

Willian’s deal was earlier rumoured to be in the region of £180,000-a-week, despite Chelsea, Barcelona and MLS side Inter Miami offering more than the £100,000-a-week by the Gunners.

Arsenal yesterday issued a statement revealing their plan to make 55 members of staff redundant, including international recruitment specialist Francis Cagigao.

The club will hold meetings with staff on Friday. The statement revealed cutbacks are being made to “maintain investment in the team”.

The decision has been heavily criticised by Arsenal supporters around the world.
