Super Eagles Interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has explained what he needs to take the job on a permanent basis. Since Jose Peseiro left, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has been looking for a new head coach, and Eguavoen, who is also the NFF’s technical director, has stepped in to guide the team.
Eguavoen led the Super Eagles in recent matches, including their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda, where the team showed good performances. However, despite these positive results, he has not yet committed to staying on permanently.

In an interview with Brila FM, Eguavoen said he wants a long-term contract and patience from the NFF before accepting the role full-time.
“It won’t be easy,” Eguavoen said. “I need a long-term contract with patience because winning can’t happen every week. You need to give me time to adjust the team to what I want.”
Eguavoen’s request highlights the challenges any coach faces when leading the Super Eagles, a team known for its high expectations from fans and officials alike.
