Nigerian champions Rangers International FC have moved quickly to beef up their squad ahead of their CAF Champions League participation next season.
In the last couple of days, Rangers FC have unveiled new players, some from the club’s youth team while others have joined from NPFL sides.
One of such transfer is now the subject of confusion. Bayelsa United have expressed surprise at the signing of Garando Tekena by Rangers FC.
Bayelsa United have stated that they are not aware of midfielder Garando Tekena’s transfer to Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, Rangers.
Despite Rangers announcing the signing of Tekena on Thursday, along with two other players, Bayelsa United maintains that Tekena is still their player.
In a statement posted on X, Bayelsa United expressed their surprise at the news: “The management of Bayelsa United Football Club is not aware of Tekena Garando move to Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL side Rangers Int’l despite his viral pictures on the internet.”
Tekena had an impressive season with Bayelsa United, scoring five goals under the management of Okara Meremu. The situation remains unclear as Bayelsa United continues to assert their claim over the player amidst the publicized transfer news.
