Bethel Oji, head coach of Abia Warriors, commended his players for adhering to game plans and securing a vital victory against Gombe United in their Matchday 36 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash.
The match, held at Pantami Stadium in Gombe, saw Abia Warriors triumph with a 3-0 win, thanks to a brace from Obi Samson and a debut league goal from second-half substitute Antoine Desouza.
Reflecting on the game, Oji praised his team for overcoming fatigue and bouncing back from a lackluster performance in their previous match against Bendel Insurance, which ended in a draw.
“It was a great performance from the players. I thank them for putting the instructions we gave them into action,” Oji stated. “Every game has its own approach. When we played against Bendel Insurance, the pitch was very slippery because of the heavy downpour. We were able to shake off the fatigue to get the victory.”
Next on the schedule for Abia Warriors is a Matchday 37 encounter against Akwa United Football Club, set to take place in Umuahia on June 16, 2024.
