Carlo Ancelotti tips Vinicius Jr. to win 2024 Ballon d’Or

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has weighed in on the 2024 Ballon d’Or debate, tipping Brazilian winger Vinicius Jr. to emerge as the winner. In a recent interview with Nigerian legend John Mikel Obi on his podcast, Ancelotti praised Vinicius’ exceptional talent, impressive performances, and good image.

“Vinicius is a talented player, and he did really well last season,” Ancelotti said confidently. “He’s young, has a good image, and can improve. He won the league, won the Champions League, scoring in the semis and final.”

Vinicius, 24, was instrumental in Real Madrid’s domestic and European dominance last term, scoring 24 goals and providing 9 assists. His standout performances in the Champions League campaign have made him Ancelotti’s favorite to claim the Ballon d’Or in 2024.

However, Vinicius faces stiff competition from his Real Madrid teammates, Jude Bellingham and Dani Carvajal, who also had impressive seasons. Bellingham, 20, was named La Liga’s Player of the Year in his debut season, contributing 23 goals and 13 assists. Carvajal, 32, played a pivotal role in Real’s impressive campaign, scoring the all-important goal in the Champions League final.

While Ancelotti has backed Vinicius to clinch the Ballon d’Or, the race remains wide open, with Bellingham and Carvajal more than capable of upsetting the Brazilian’s bid for the coveted individual award.

The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner will be announced in October, and the competition is expected to be fierce. Other top contenders include Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, and Kevin De Bruyne.
