Chelsea FC is on the verge of finalizing the transfer of Nigerian-born striker Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid. The Blues have reportedly secured the 20-year-old’s signature in a deal valued at £34.5 million and are scheduling a medical examination in Paris today.

Omorodion, who is currently participating in the 2024 Olympics with Spain, has impressed Chelsea scouts with his performances at Alaves, where he played on loan from Atletico Madrid. He scored eight goals and provided one assist in 34 La Liga games, sparking interest from several top European clubs.

The young striker has already made four appearances in the Olympic tournament, scoring in the group-stage match against Egypt. His impressive form has caught the attention of Chelsea manager, who is keen to add him to the squad.

Once the deal is completed, Omorodion will compete for a spot alongside Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, and Marc Guiu, a young talent recently signed from Barcelona. He will sign a seven-year contract with the Premier League club following the medical.

Chelsea has been negotiating with Atletico Madrid for nearly a month to secure Omorodion’s transfer. The deal is expected to be wrapped up soon, with the medical examination being the final hurdle.

Omorodion’s transfer to Chelsea will be a significant boost to the club’s attacking options. His pace, skill, and goal-scoring ability make him an exciting prospect for the Blues.

The Nigerian-born striker’s eligibility to play for the Super Eagles has also generated interest among Nigerian football fans. Omorodion’s decision to represent Spain at the Olympics has sparked debate, but his transfer to Chelsea may reignite hopes of him switching allegiance to Nigeria in the future.

The Blues have a reputation for developing young players, and Omorodion is expected to be the latest beneficiary of their youth development system.

With the transfer set to be completed soon, Chelsea fans will be eagerly awaiting Omorodion’s debut. The young striker has the potential to be a game-changer for the Blues, and his arrival will undoubtedly strengthen their attacking options.
