Super Eagles and Sevilla winger Chidera Ejuke has shaken off the disappointment of missing out on Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, instead choosing to show support for his teammates ahead of their matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
The left-winger acknowledged Nigeria’s wealth of talented players and expressed confidence in the Super Eagles’ ability to secure positive results in the upcoming qualifiers.
“We have a lot of players in Nigeria, and believe me, at the end of the day, it’s the coach’s decision, and he knows what he’s doing,” Ejuke said.

“For me, if I get the opportunity to go there, I’ll always be happy to represent my country. I wish the boys the best, and obviously, I’ll be watching as well. I hope they win the matches.”
Ejuke has been in fine form for Sevilla, making the most of his opportunities following a match-winning performance in their 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad on Sunday.

After a goalless first half, the Nigerian winger took matters into his own hands, scoring the only goal of the game early in the second half to secure Sevilla’s ninth win of the season. His strike, a brilliant curler, marked his second La Liga goal and helped Sevilla extend their unbeaten run in away matches to five—an achievement they last recorded in May 2023.

It was Chidera Ejuke ’s first start since recovering from an injury in January, and he made the most of it with a decisive performance.
In his absence from the national team, Alex Iwobi and the other 22 players called up will face the Amavubi of Rwanda at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Friday, March 21, before hosting the Warriors of Zimbabwe four days later at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
