Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze was in action for Villareal as they continue their unbeaten record since the return of La Liga with a 2-2 draw with Sevilla at Estadio De La Ceramica on Monday.
Spanish international Paco Alcacer opened the scoring for the hosts in the 18th minutes and the goal was canceled by Spanish defender Sergio Escudero on 39th minutes.
With half time approaching, Pau Torres struck on the stroke of the break to send the hosts into the interval 2-1 up.
Sevilla were back on level terms seventeen minutes into the restart as Munir El Haddadi volley Jesus Navas’ cross past Sergio Asenjo.
Chukwueze was restored to the starting 11 having come from the bench in the Yellow Submarines’ 1-0 victory at Granada, as both sides sought to strengthen their cases for European football.
The shared spoils mean Villarreal jump above Real Sociedad into sixth place by a single point although Sociedad can regain their position if they beat Celta Vigo on Wednesday.
