Dayo Ojo joins ASVO FC on a one-year deal.

Dayo Ojo, a former midfielder for the home-based Super Eagles, has joined ASVO FC, a Beninoise club, on a one-year contract. Ojo, a free agent after leaving Remo Stars, chose to move abroad despite interest from Shooting Stars.

He previously played for Sunshine Stars and Enyimba in the NPFL and was a member of the home-based Super Eagles side that finished second at the 2018 Africa Nations Championship in Morocco.

ASVO FC, managed by former Enyimba and Akwa United head coach Fatai Osho, has secured a significant signing in Ojo, who brings a wealth of experience to the team. Ojo’s move abroad marks a new chapter in his career, and he is expected to make a significant impact at ASVO FC.

In the just-concluded season, Remo Stars, with Dayo Ojo at the heart of the midfield, excelled overall, with 20 wins, five draws, and 13 losses. This performance placed Remo Stars second in the NPFL table, five points behind league winners Enugu Rangers, winning 53% of matches. Remo Stars’ home form was also excellent, with 18 wins, one draw, and no losses. Their away form is considered good, with two wins, four draws, and 13 losses. Remo Stars scored a total of 54 goals last season in the NPFL.

In related NPFL news, El-Kanemi has unveiled eight new signings, while Doma United’s Hilary is set to join Rangers. Sunshine Stars is keen to keep key players for the new season, and Finidi has started work at Rivers United. Kwara United has announced a July 15 date for pre-season training, and Ogunmodede has called for improved salaries for local coaches.
