Deji Ayeni reveals every team can ‘compete’ ahead of NPFL kick-off

Deji Ayeni, Akwa United head coach has revealed that every team can compete as his side will take each game of the Nigerian Professional Premier League (NPFL) 2022/23 season as it comes without pressure.

The former Sunshine Stars tactician allayed that everyone has a new clean sheet ahead of the NPFL league kick-off.

This gives every participating team a chance to compete fairly according to him.

“There’s chance for everyone that competes in the group, the most important thing is that we will focus and concentrate on our game.”

“We have to take the game as it comes, one by one and we will take positivity from every game that we play as we will spring surprise on a lot of teams,’ Deji Ayeni boasted.

The 2022/23 NPFL season will be abridged league format with kick-off on January 8th following the draws in Abuja on Wednesday.

The interim management committee (IMC) ably led by Gbenga Elegbeleye revealed that the league winners will be given a N100 million cash prize reward.

Ahead of the league kick-off, the IMC chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye warned participating teams to shun any act of violence as the punishments are clearly spelled out for law breakers in the course of the league.

“Any club which engages in violent conducts will not be sanctioned with N500,000.00 as was the case in the past, but three points will be deducted as punishment.”

“We know what it means to have three points deducted from points already earned by a club in the league,” Elegbeleye buttressed.

Deji Ayeni will be hoping for be hoping for a strong top four finish this season in boost of continental football.
