Dele-Bashiru pens new Watford deal

Nigeria international Tom Dele-Bashiru has signed a new three-year deal with Championship club Watford.

The midfielder is now set to remain at the club until the summer of 2028 after extending his current deal which was to run until 2025.

Dele-Bashiru was a surprise starter for coach Finidi George when Nigeria took on the Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

The former Manchester City Midfielder scored on his full debut for Nigeria after shading off his marker to find the bottom corner for an equalizer when Nigeria were a goal down against South Africa.

The 24-year-old joined Watford in the English second division back in 2019 after he saw out his contract at Manchester City.

Injury had however disrupted his early stay at Watford before he cemented his place last season.

Dele-Bashiru was one of the Hornets’ top performers in the 2023/24 season after the playmaker made 38 appearances and scored three goals.

At the start of the transfer window, he was a target for several clubs but will remain at Watford after penning the new deal.
