Nigerian international, Emem Eduok scored a 59th-minute goal to move Hajduk Split to 2nd place in the Croatian 1st League with 54 points after 31 games.

Eduok, who was not listed in his side’s 3-2 loss to NK Lokomotiva Zagreb on matchday 30 fixture, returned with a bang to net his 10th goal in 25 league games, as the team chase NK Lokomotiva (54), NK Osijek (52) and Rijeka (52) for a place in the UEFA Champions League next season.

The striker was making his second start since the return of the league in May.

Mijo Caktas had given Hajdik Split the lead from the penalty spot in the 10th minute and a leveller by the visitors through Vinko Medimorec in the 24th minute.

Emem Eduok has scored 10 goals, 3 assists in 27 matches in all competitions, and will hope to increase that tally when his side meet 6th placed HNK Gorica at the 5,200 Gradski Stadion Velika Gorica on Tuesday in a midweek fixture.

Hajduk Split are leveled on points with 3rd placed NK Lokomotiva and will be hoping to secure a spot for the Uefa Champions League.

The 26-year old is having his best goal-scoring season since moving from NPFL side Dolphins to join Esperance of Tunisia in 2015.
